There has been much talk about Orange and Lemons‘ song “Pinoy Ako,” which is also the theme song of the hit reality tv show Pinoy Big Brother. It is apparently a rip-off of the song “Chandeliers” by The Care. However, Orange and Lemons and the song’s composer Jonathan Manalo contend that the two are two very different songs. I and a lot of others beg to differ. But a lot of people also believe that “Pinoy Ako” is not a rip-off. That is why, we are now asking you to be the judge. Our new poll asks you “Do you think the Pinoy Big Brother theme song PINOY AKO is a rip-off?”

ripoff na ripoff talaga. hindi na kelangan ng degree sa music para mahusgahang ripoff. bingi lang o nagbibingi-bingihan ang magsasabing hindi ito ginaya. nakakahiya talaga. ang mas nakakahiya: they’re not even apologetic that they did not bother to acknowledge the original source. daming palusot eh obvious naman.

Another rip off song is that theme song from that new Kristine Hermosa soap “Gulong ng Palad”. It’s obviously ripped off from the song ” Love Song for Emmanuelle” sung by Sylvia Kristel for the film “Emmanuelle 2″. At least Orange and Lemons changed the chorus of the song. This one is exactly the same song with different lyrics. ABS should stop promoting plagiarism in their shows!

you know what? i think they should of just said we sampled it from the cure instead of claiming they wrote the whole song, then there wouldn’t be a lot of controversy over it.

Absolutely, a knock-off from the 80′s song “Chandelier”! Nakakahiya…lalo lang tayo maba-brand na manggagaya. Sayang maganda pa naman ang meaning nung kanta. Sabi nila sa music nila na magpakatotoo ka pero sila hindi totoo…talagang nakakahiya!

this is the first i read or heard of this issue thus i listened to the care song and grabe… how can they deny that they did not steal the music from care. onl are not as popular as they were a year ago and they maybe just be getting their “just desserts” now. pity…

claiming that they are not even familiar with “the care”, then claiming that “pinoy ako” is original, and its resemblance to “chandeliers”..waw.. these people are making us look stupid.
what an irony.. “pinoy ako”‘s theme is how a filipino should be proud of being “pinoy”.. when in fact all it does is contribute a ton of shame for the local music scene.
special mention: freakin’ “bands” ripping off old classics for themselves.. and “almost” claiming that its an original.. go to freakin’ hell..little maggots.
