This Sunday, Starstruck: the Nationwide Invasion and its 14 showbiz hopefuls will be launched by GMA 7. Just like the second season of its rival show, Star Circle Quest, this season’s hopefuls will be composed of wannabes (hopefully talented) from all over the country.
Will it succeed? Maybe. Maybe not. Surely, it will draw in viewers and potential fans. But will it launch successful careers? That I am not quite sure of. Undoubtedly, the first batch of Starstruck Survivors and even Avengers are very popular and most of them have relatively successful careers. Unlike ABS-CBN which has given their winners and finalists so-so opportunities, GMA 7 has focused much attention, investment and projects towards the way of their talent-search finds. Who in the Philippines do not know Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras? Even their runner-ups Yasmien Kurdi and Rainier Castillo has been having their fair share of the limelight. Of the first fourteen finalists, at least half are still very active and popular in the industry.
However, the second batch has been having a harder time. Personally, I am not fond of the second batch of finalists. Among them, I only know of the Survivors: Ryza Cenon, Mike Tan, LJ Reyes and CJ Muere. And I think LJ is the only one who truly shows promise in terms of acting. And she has got charisma and charm and probably the staying power too. Unfortunately for these four and their batchmates, they have not been given their due. Or maybe they are just victims of the unfortunate decision of GMA (which ABS-CBN also made) to do the second season right away, even if the first batch members’ careers haven’t stabilized and plateaued yet.
It’s been a long time and I think Kapuso fans are craving for new blood to idolize and adore. Hopefully, the Nationwide Invaders will fare better than their immediate predecessors. Let’s see this Monday if the Nationwide Invaders will live up to the legacy of the original Starstruck 14.

well, StarStruck was more successful than SCQ.. nasan na sina Sandara, HEro, ERich, DM, Aaron, at ung iba?.. mismong grand questor nawawala.. what more ung nasa lower half?!>.. haha, and ang corny nung tagline, tha magic continues.. where the hell is the magic there?!> dream, believe and survive.. Gaya gaya lng ang Starstruck na yan. Kasi ang GMA 7 gaya gya din ang ginagawa. Tignan nyo, pati istorya ng superman ginaya din ng captain barbell. Masmaganda pa yun first na sina erbert bautista at eud manzano. Ang capatain barbell ni Richard, ay! walang originality. Wala nabang masmaganda dyan? Tsaka ano ba yan. Ang suntok ni Richard, mas malakas pa manuntok ang bading kay sa dun eh. Lakasan mo tol, papogi effects ka lang eh. Di ka naman marunong sumuntok mga practise ka kaya ng wushu sanshou para magkaruon ng lakas yung suntok mo. MORE POWER TO MAJIKA

i’m not a fan of starstruck but i admire their efforts. at least marami ang nbibigyan ng chance para sumikat at magkatrabaho lalo na sa young teens. dun sa ngsasabing gaya-gaya sila, hello pareho lng sila na! i’ve been watching both networks at pareho lng po sila ng mga gimmicks. what i hate lng po sa abscbn is kung sino mabenta dun lng sila. give other artists a chance oh! at aminin nung mga detractors ng kapuso, ibig sabihin pinapanood niyo rin sila kasi alam niyo no!
nyway, i like ryza cenon pala, look alike siya ni angel locsin… very angelic faced beauty indeed
