I was really disturbed to hear that Matt Evans, a virtually unexperienced teen was going to play Pedro Penduko. I am actually a fan of the Pendro Penduko movies of Janno Gibbs eventhough I hate Janno to death. However, upon seeing the complete trailer, I was comforted. Pendro Penduko was not going to be a full-blown fantaserye anyway. And Matt seem to fit into the role perfectly. And it seems like the production is very well done. So watch out for Pendro Penduko every Saturday on ABS-CBN’s Komiks this September.

a sad fact about Pedro Penduko:
the comic writer, Francisco Conching is hardly being acknowledge in any Pedro Penduko sequel (may it be the movie or tv series) buti pa sina Mars Ravelo at Carlo J. Caparas; aside from this the writer’s family isn’t even compensated by these national bureaucrats / capitalists whenever they mention or use the Pedro Penduko character in their shows — to think na pinagkakakitaan nila ito. tsk, tsk, what happened to the intellectual property rights law? ayaw nila ng pirata, pero numero unong magnanakaw naman ng karakter.

Sierra, yes, past movies, including those by Viva Films which starred Janno Gibbs never acknowledged Francisco Conching, as far as I can remember. I think it was ABS-CBN who started the whole acknowledgement thing when they named Spirits as Chito Roño’s Spirits and Panday as Carlo J. Caparas’ Panday. The fact is ABS-CBN did not steal characters. They paid for the rights to use those characters. It’s their prerogative to acknowledge the writer or not. That’s my opinion.

(1) try to ask the Conching family, they weren’t able to receive a cent.
(2) to acknowledge the writer or not is not a matter of prerogative (as if saying na: buti nga binayaran pa sila — na hindi nga ginawa), i think, it is their (the company) MORAL and ETHICAL responsibility, to acknowledge the writer.

Sierra, mag-isip ka nga. When rights are bought, the money goes to the person who owns the rights, not necessarily the person who made the work. ALSO, when I said that it’s their prerogative to acknowledge the writer or not, I meant it’s their prerogative to mention the writer or not. ACKNOWLEDGMENT is not equal to payment. You’re taking up precious bandwidth.

una, hindi ako nang-aaway. i’m just clarify things. treat it as informing the readers. (not unless, you have a “thing”; it is sounding as if “protecting” the company).

ang totoo, rhetorical questions lang lahat ng pinost ko. i know exactly who owns the rights of Pedro Penduko. (well, another rhetorical question). at ang totoo, kapag tinanong ninyo ang Coching family, hindi sila aware about the consequences of ‘outright sales’ — call it ignorance pero let’s just say, i feel for them.
