GMA 7’s claim that they are the Philippines’ No. 1 TV Network has just been debunked by a recent national survey made by AGB Nielsen Media Research (Philippines).
It turns out that GMA 7 only leads in Mega Manila and Southern Luzon over their rival ABS-CBN.
The AGB Nielsen’s first nationwide urban television audience measurement (NUTAM) shows that ABS-CBN’s 43-percent viewership share put the company ahead of rival GMA Networks Inc., which garnered 35.2-percent rating, during the survey period October 8 to October 13.
NUTAM is an expansion of the current AGBNMR panel installation in Metro Manila homes. Using the on-line “peoplemeter,” it provides a total picture of television viewership in the entire Philippines through 24-hour monitoring of the panel homes.
A total of 1,500 panel homes will represent a universe of 7.26 million national urban TV homes from the following areas: North and Central Luzon with 300 homes; Metro Manila, 400 homes; South Luzon, 300 homes; Visayas, 300, homes; and Mindanao, 200 homes.

whenever gma claims that they are #1, nakalagay naman po sa screen na based un sa mega manila agb nielsen ratings at hindi inaangkin ng gma na #1 sila nationwide so they are NOT lying.. besides, kumikita ang gma network and even the abs-cbn network sa mega manila advertisers. kung meron mang advertisers sa ibang cities in the country, very little profit lang un para sa mga tv networks. have you ever wonder why abs-cbn shows rely on their standing on mega manila ratings para magtagal sa timeslot or even sa airing? kung bakit tinatanggal ng abs ang mga shows o inililipat ng timeslot pag mababa ang rating sa mega manila? simply because mega manila viewers and advertisers are huge determinants of their profit.. do you know that gma managed to contest one of the claims of abs-cbn before and was proven to have fabricated the ratings by getting them at different times and made them appear as if they were taken at one time? (-cut from regine-nation). pero ngaun hindi magawang mag reklamo ni lopez sa gma kahit panay panay ang paglalabas ng gma ng mega manila ratings? simply because alam ng abs execs na totoo naman ang sinasabi ng gma. ano irereklamo nila? kainis no?! pero it’s true. you just have to learn to accept it!

oh my god adonis… get a life… you don’t have to post the same comment (which is by the way irrelevant) on all the threads in this site… Obviously you don’t have a life.
FYI, advertisers don’t really care whether who’s leading in the national survey… What they want is mega manila because 70% of the consumers come from manila… So no matter how many times you post your silly comment, advertisers will not think otherwise.
Even Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino accept the fact that their shows are not competing enough in the rating race in MEGA MANILA - which is a cliche if you don’t believe the fact that advertisers are on to MEGA MANILA results.
If you like ABS-CBN, then good for you. But you don’t have to force it to other people. With what you are doing, you are obviously accepting the fact that GMA is leading. And you are obviously bothered by that fact that’s why you’re doing all of these.
And don’t say that you’re not pushing it to other people because you do; indirectly perhaps.

I’m watching ABS-CBN shows for the long time here in abroad. but when I’m having my vacationin the PhilsI was so surprised the difference between this 2 station. Despite of this surveys happen, by our won we can differentiate which is entertaining. but in my own opinion and obseravtion lot of people wathcing GMA sad to say GMA for me is number 1. How I wish that GMA will set up their sation if possible. Now I used to watch their shows in the internet kaya lang clippings lang kasi…I like their shows nde nakakaumay…

fyi lang. kaya naman umalis ang gma sa kbp dahil ayaw nila magpapigil sa time limit na nirequire ng kbp regarding commercial loading. in short, gusto talaga nilang yumaman. sa tagal tagal ng abs-cbn, di pa naman nila naabot ang P2-B na profit na nakukuha ngayon ng gma. sino kaya ngayon ang gahaman sa pera.

ever since, i have always been a kapamilya and i’m proud of it! i really love abs-cbn shows no matter what
and also the kapamilya stars.
most of my friends are kapuso. they say that abs-cbn is “baduy.” i don’t think so. i don’t care whatever they say.
it’s none of my business anyway.
abs-cbn provides quality entertainment to the filipinos here and abroad. i really believe that abs-cbn is
the one and only NUMBER 1 tv network in the country. i also believe that it is the NUMBER 1 filipino tv network in
the world. no one can beat abs-cbn. gma is just a copycat and i mean that.

How can some ABS and GMA viewers claim that thei r chosen networks were on top? P***ng ina nila! Walang kwenta ang kanilang mga programa! Foreign shows on both networks were Tagalized (with no captions/subtitles)and thier programs in English were available only in late night to early morning viewing (for ABS only).
And that’s not all. GMA left the KBP because of the agency’s anti-commercial overloading policies. After that, they were No. 1. GMA WERE NUMBER ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE, NOT BECAUSE OF AGB NIELSEN’S SURVEY, BUT THEY WERE NUMBER ONE… ON PROFITS (DUE TO COMMERCIAL OVERLOADING)!!!! Better for GMA must return to the KBP or someone will ask our legislators to enact a law that would prohibit the likes of GMA to left KBP because of the anti-commercial overloading bullsh*t.
And who would forget ABS-CBN? Sure, they were also claiming the survey that they were on the top of the mountain. But for me, they were number one… on cable monopoly! Imagine this: ABS News Channel (ANC), MYX, Hero TV, Lifestyle Network are only available on SKY Cable (ABS’s cable company) and not to other cable companies (esp. its rival Global Destiny). ABS shouldn’t deserve respect from its cable-ready subscribers, and MYX should be the No. 1 Music Channel in the Flip. MTV-Phil. deserves that title. I wish that ABS would change it ways and they also put their “cable-only” channels on free TV mode.
BTW, to those jerks at AGB and other marketing research firms: I DON’T LIKE THE WAY YOU SURVEY THE VIEWING PUBLIC FAVORING EITHER KAPAMILYA OR KAPUSO. THERE SHOULD BE A FAIR, JUST, ACCURATE AND ACCEPTABLE RESULTS OF YOU R SURVEYS, THEN GIVE IT TO THE GOVERNMENT (IF THERES’ A LAW REQUIRING IT) FOR CERTIFICATION AND APPROVAL.
THIS WOULD JUSTIFY THAT THERE WILL BE MORE KILLINGS ON THE MASS MEDIA (ALL OF THEM) NOT JUST THEY REPORT CORRUPTION IN OUR GOVERNMENT, BUT ALSO, THEY DIDN’T USE ENGLISH IN THEIR PROGRAMMING, PRO-MASSES(D - LOWER E CLASSES) PROGRAMMING, ALL WORTHLESS LOCAL SHOWBIZ NEWS, “INVASION” OF THIRD SEX ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALISTS, SENSATIONALISM ON BOTH REGULAR & ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALISM, ETC… YOU KNOW THE PIC.

they are trying to get the position of abs. sa 22o lang naging no1 naman naman tlga sila
sa ratings sa mega manila lang and southern luzon since december 2003… kung mas mataas
lng ng onti ang ratings nila kala nila #1 n sial… ngaun kce onti nlang ang lamang nila
nkakabawi na ang 2 sa mega manila ratings… pero pg ksam n ung mga provinces and other
counties, landslide na!!!

I’m just giving a fair treatment on the issue of why gma left kbp. i think that’s my part of informing you about what i know. did you know that at one time abs-cbn also left kbp? that was last year…. kaya ang naging best station last year was abc-5. pero good thing bumalik na rin sila.

talagang magagandang program noon sa gma tulad ng probe, na nasa abs na. sa akin mas
yong mga programs ng abs. kung history, background, reputation at management ang
pagbabasehan tingin ko mas angat ang abs. sa asian review nga laging kasama ang abs company
sa top which shows na maganda talaga ang reputasyon nila.

sa iyo alrae ng gitnang silangan. totoong mura lang ang charges na ibinibigay ng kapusa. alam mo ba kung bakit? eh kasi naman kailangan nila ng subscribers kasi naguumpisa pa lang sila. sad to say, kahit mura lang ang charges nila konti pa rin lang ang subscribers. subok na kasi ang kapamilya kaya walang iwanan. dito sa california kapamilya rules! kaya ok lang na mahal ang kanilang charges sulit naman kasi sa magaganda nilang programa. pagbalik ko dyan sa pinas ngayong january punta ako sa wowowee. di kasi kumpleto ang pagiging balikbayan kung di ka bibisita sa wowowee. ito kasi ang programa nating bawat pilipino. o walang kokontra ha. eat baluga!!!

I have no doubt that ABS-CBN is still the leading network in the Philippines. Nakikita ko sa KAPAMILYA station ang totoong pagsisilbi sa mga Pilipino at sa Pilipinas. They always render all out service.

Napakaganda da pa ng formatting ng TV Patrol World…napakasarap pakinggan ang mga katagang….KAMI ANG MGA PATROL NG PILIPINO. Ang WOWOWEE din totoong-totoo…dito ko nakita ang tunay na katayuan at imahe ng mga PILIPINO. Walang script, lahat ng nangyayari ay sorpresa…kung hindi ka man humagalpak sa saya, luluha ka sa totoong kaugalian ng mga Pilipino. Dito lang yan sa WOWOWEE. Tara na sama ka KAPAMILYA!!!

Moreover, people could not stop talikng about Budong, Joemar, Pacita of Super Inggo fame as well as rave hosannas for Celine, Jackie,JV & John Llooyd Cruz of Maging Sino Ka Man. Well, this just proves that, “veritas liberabit vos”, or that “the truth shall set us free”. I totally agree that abs-cbn is still the best of both the 2 stations mainly because abs-cbn is the one who reaches out to people in bringing their favourite tv shows in their home in all parts of the world which is The Filipino Channel bakit ang GMA meron ba nun? wala… GMA celebrities and host are just big headed thinking that becauuse they were longer in the show business, it doesn’t mean that they will not became unpopular because believe me, people will definitely want something new to watch because it becomes boring if u will watch the same thing all over again … probably some who stays in the gma network are the one who is so loyal… The GMA shows has been running for so long, don’t they ever think that they need new shows for a change?… that’s probably why they copy some of the ideas of abs-cbn to make a change LOL!

As i actually observe, before there’s a lot of KABAYAN’S spending their meals inside the restaurants, but now? kunti2x nlang and when i tried to ask the friend of mine who managing a known Filipino Restaurant here, she said they’ve got bored on the shows because it was GMA..and obviously, that friend of mine is a TFC subscriber and she said SPONSOR KC NG RESTAURANT ANG GMA kya if what the boss ordered? it should be followed, nagsilipatan na 2loy customers nila sa kabila cause their has a 42″ flat screen t.v. na KAPAMILYA ang shows..

ABS-CBN lost a large chunk of its audience in 1996 when RPN-9 introduced the “telenovelas,” or dubbed soap operas from Latin American countries. The following year, the company regained its audience after it changed its primetime schedule by adding Filipino-produced soap operas.
In mid-2004, the company made a smaller investment when GMA Network gained audience share in Mega Manila, although ABS-CBN retained its hegemony on other provinces and overseas. The network signed a contract with Endemol to gain rights of its franchise of Big Brother. Since the rights were expensive, the company launched a series of promotions in the first and second quarter of 2005. In August 2005, Pinoy Big Brother was aired, which became a hit which caused ABS-CBN to license more programs from Endemol such as Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal and Pinoy Dream Academy.
In the last quarter of 2006, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. leads the nationwide television viewership share against rival GMA Network Inc., according to AGB Nielsen Media Research (Philippines) nationwide survey released October 26, 2006.
In a survey conducted by the AGB Nielsen Media Research from October 8 to October 13 using its National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) for the first time showed that ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation garnered a 43% viewership, putting it ahead of GMA Network, Inc. which got a share of 35.2%.[10]The NUTAM was officially launched last October 16, 2006 to determine the TV ratings and audience share of local TV Programs from the different urban areas in the Philippines. This changes the television landscape and the manner in which the advertisers will allocate their TV investments to achieve cost efficiency and maximize each. With this larger geographical measurement coverage, a greater level of accountability and confidence in television as a primary advertising medium is achieved.[11][12]
In the January 15, 2007 issue of BusinessWorld, a local broadsheet containing Business reports, AGB-Nielsen Media Research, the official ratings provider, released for the first time the official results of its Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement.[13] The Nationwide Viewing Panel results for the week ending January 6, 2007, showed that in terms of individuals, 8 out of top 10 programs came from ABS-CBN with the Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal P4M Edition as the top-rater. In terms of households, all top 10 programs came from ABS-CBN with Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal P4M Edition also as the top-rater. ABS-CBN posted a channel rating of 12.2 and an audience share of 43.1 in terms of households, and a channel rating of 5.9 and an audience share of 42.7 in terms of individuals. GMA-7 on the other hand posted a channel rating of 10.2 and an audience share of 36.9 in terms of households, and a channel rating of 5.3 and an audience share of 38.7 in terms of individuals.

I think the only reason kaya naging No.1 ang GMA7
kasi sa Metro Manila and Southern Luzon mataas ng rating ng GMA7.
When ive been to Baguio last year, id noticed that most of the Television viewers are
much prepared ABS-CBN2 than rival GMA7.

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. leads the nationwide television viewership share against rival GMA Network Inc., according to AGB Nielsen Media Research (Philippines) nationwide survey released Thursday.
The AGB Nielsen’s first nationwide urban television audience measurement (NUTAM) shows that ABS-CBN’s 43-percent viewership share put the company ahead of rival GMA Networks Inc., which garnered 35.2-percent rating, during the survey period October 8 to October 13.
NUTAM is an expansion of the current AGBNMR panel installation in Metro Manila homes. Using the on-line “peoplemeter,” it provides a total picture of television viewership in the entire Philippines through 24-hour monitoring of the panel homes.
A total of 1,500 panel homes will represent a universe of 7.26 million national urban TV homes from the following areas: North and Central Luzon with 300 homes; Metro Manila, 400 homes; South Luzon, 300 homes; Visayas, 300, homes; and Mindanao, 200 homes.
The survey also disclosed that ABS-CBN led audience rating in North and Central Luzon with 40 percent; Visayas, 57.3 percent; Mindanao, 62.2 percent; Metro Cebu, 55.2 percent; Metro Davao, 57.7 percent; and Iloilo with 50.6 percent.
On the other hand, GMA led in areas in Metro Manila, with 40.6 percent compared to ABS 35.2 percent and in Southern Luzon of 38.3 percent versus rival’s 35.2 percent.
Maya Reforma, AGBNMR (Philippines) general manager, explained that the expansion provides comprehensive and relevant high-quality data for business and nation building and strengthens the Philippines’ development surge.
The AGB Nielsen said Luzon registered the highest TV ownership at 92 percent and cable ownership at 23 percent.
The survey also shows that the Visayas has the largest chunk of class E at 29 percent and the most number of homes with children at 64 percent, with Mindanao hugging has the largest chunk of class D at 60 percent and the most number of families.
In a related development, AC Nielsen said that for the first half of the year, TV advertising expenditures amounted to P22.6 billion; radio advertising, P4.93 billion; and print, P966 million.
The top TV advertisers are Unilever Philippines with P5.01 billion; Procter & Gamble, P4.9 billion; Nestlé, P3.3 billion; United Laboratories, P2.2 billion; Smart Communications Inc., P971 million; Fortune Tobacco, P855 million; Johnson & Johnson, P859 million; Wyeth, P827 million; and Globe, P783 million.
In radio, the top advertisers are Unilab, Unilver, Fortune, F&G, Tanduay, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes, Nestlé, San Miguel, Colgate and Petron.
Jay G. Bautista, AC Nielsen executive director, said the strong performance of the economy is the one factor of the rising media spending. “They are confident that consumers can buy a certain product,” he explained.
Jerico Barrera, AC Nielsen associate director, however, noted that the gap in the advertising level between television and radio is a function of cost per spot.
Barrera added that 60 percent of the total advertising money invested by advertisers in radio campaigns is in Metro Manila. “If we look at each area, advertising expenditure in the Visayas are growing faster than the other areas,” he pointed out.

oh anong masasabi nyo!! actually tanggap na yan ng GMA7 kasi malinaw pa yan sa sikat ng araw wala silang nagawa!!! biglang bumaba ang ratings ng GMA7 kaysa sa unang Nationwide ratings na nakakuha sila ng 35.2% ngayon ay 35% nalang samantala ang ABS-CBN sa unang Nationwide ratings ay nakakuha sila ng 43% at sa ngayon ay nakakuha sila ng 47%!! klaro yan ha! di lang yan poro salita! may kasamang ibidensya yan!! gud luck!!!

Eat bulaga di pala kasali sa Top 20 most watched tv show! samantala ang wowowee ay top 10!! sa top 20! 15 dito ang shows ng ABS-CBN… ABS habang sinisiraan ng GMA7 lalong umaangat!! ABS your the best

ABS-CBN claims victory over GMA Network in TV ratings war
Propelled by popular evening soaps, game shows, and reality TV, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. is claiming victory in the raging ratings war, trumpeting the results of a recent national survey which saw the Lopez-led television network ahead of chief rival GMA Network, Inc.
Citing a report by AGB-Nielsen Media Research covering the period March 4 to 17, ABS-CBN said it was “comfortably ahead” of GMA in nationwide urban TV viewership, with a share of 47% against GMA’s 35%.
ABS-CBN’s total daytime rating for the period was 19%, compared with GMA’s 14%. Fifteen of the top 20 programs came from ABS-CBN, the AGB-Nielsen report showed.
Primetime drama shows Sana Maulit Muli and Maging Sino Ka Man topped the list, along with the early evening newscast TV Patrol World. The top 20 also included reality show Pinoy Big Brother and noontime game show Wowowee.
GMA programs in the top 20 were Asian Treasures (7th), Super Twins (8th), Bakekang (12th), Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho (16th), and news program 24 Oras (20th).
In a statement, Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN executive vice-president, said the network was “happy to hear the great news, but will remain vigilant in nurturing the leadership.”
“We will be constantly aware of the differences in the needs of Filipinos in different parts of the country and even the world to make sure that we meet all their viewing needs,” Ms. Concio said.
Sought for comment, Butch S. Racquel, GMA vice-president for corporate communications, said the network never claimed leadership in all areas covered by surveys.

KAPAMILYA fans….. just stop making rivalry to the kapuso coz we already know naman whos really the no.1 station and honestly..abs-cbn dont aim this kind of distinction coz as long as they give entertainment and fun to the people there who are satisfied to what they are watching which is the ABS-CBN..

KAPUSO still the number one tv station in the Philippines, no matter what pro-abs says, they
are still behind when we speak about ratings. mentioning originality, mind their word, they are
the one always imitating GMA-7. where can you find the longest running tv program, (eat bulaga)
ofcourse only in GMA. as they say, when it comes from the HEART, it must be genuine, a family
without a HEART is lving in a fake world! GMA-7…THE BEST!

comment ko lang po tungkol sa sinabi ni RICHARD. I know in your heart na no.1 para sa yo ang GMA but the fact that STILL ABS-CBN LEADS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY comes from the same source were GMA base their so called no.1 which it seems na pang GMA as in Greater MAnila lang pala sila nakalamang.
Aside from that ang Eat Bulaga po ay hindi production ng GMA! Nagkataoon lang na nasa GMA sya nag-eere ngayon. Sinong nangopya ng TV PAtrol? GMA di ba?!!! Going Bulilit, Komiks, Magandang Umaga Pilipinas, Sine serye, Kapamilya Cinema, ASAP, MArina, PAlibhasa Lalake at marami pa? GMA rin di ba.
Alam mo nanopya rin ang ABS-CBN ng type of show pero hindi kasindami ng GMA mulat sapul!

oo nga, panalo ung GMA sa mega manila pero pag pinaguusapan na sa nationwide, ABS tlga ang

GMA is still the number 1 and award winning TV network in the philippines…
sbhin natin na mahina ang GMA sa VISMIN, GMA is continuing to expand the satelites para
mapanood sa bhagi ng pilipinas.. sa ngayon number 1 ang abs sa VISMIN but number 1 ang GMA
sa LUZON and METRO MANILA… Tignan mo khit GMA Pinoy TV is demand palagi sa USA,
Middle East, Japan, Guam, Hawaii, etc. As of March 2007 meron na silng 248,746 subscribers
hndi pa kasma Europe, Australia at some parts ng Asia.
GMA is the best… Wag na kau humirit pa.

paano ba nila kina-calculate ang ratings na yan? siguro nga panalo ang abs in terms of
percentage! but i think kung ibi-base yung ratings sa # ng viewers sa buong pilipinas
# pa rin ang gma. gaano ba kalaki ang population ng vizmin at gaano karami ba ang
may tv dyan compare sa luzon. # 1 ang abs in a nationwide survey yet in mega
manila na mas maraming viewers gma is still # 1.
one more thing, mataas lang naman kasi ang rating ng abs sa mga provinces kasi makalas
ang signal nila compare to gma. but when gma completed the upgrading of their facilities
in the provinces, dun natin malalaman kung alin ang tunay na # 1.
