I watched Jun Lana‘s KULAM last night, and I was impressed. The movie provided a good number of frights, and it had a good story. No cheesy lines, and not much unnecessary scenes and plot twists. Just enough melodrama, but maybe not enough comic relief. And some of the special effects were not too good. But the movie is a must-see, one of the better Filipino horror movies.
The actors weren’t bad at all. Judy Ann Santos delivered well. Ces Quesada and Irma Adlawan were good, as usual. TJ Trinidad was a revelation, and so was Dennis Trillo. The two teenybopper actors were so-so. Forgot to take note who they are. Sharlene San Pedro is all grown up now, and her acting has also matured.
The best thing about the movie aren’t the actors, but the story. It wasn’t dragging at all, and it had a nice flow. Basta, you have to watch it to know why I like the story so much.
