The opening scene of the July 30 episode of Magkaribal is during the FDGP Elections, Vera (Angel Aquino) declares that there will be no elections. Much to the shock of the FDGP members, including Victoria Valera (Gretchen Barretto), her number one rival who is poised to steal the presidency from her.
Vera: I regret to say, walang mangyayaring eleksyon ngayong gabi. For I will not allow it to happen.
Crowd: WHY?
Victoria: At ano nanamang drama nanaman to Vera huh? Dahil alam mong matatalo ka ngayong gabi?
Vera: As I’ve said i have been your president for the past 10 years. At maipagmamalaki kong isa ako sa mga nagsilang ng FDGP. I gave my life fully to you guys. The work of my hands, work of my heart… I offered to this organization completely. But I have to say and I’m being honest, ayoko na. Sabi nga nila some things must come to an end. Siguro panahon na para ibigay ko naman ang buhay ko sa aking totoong pamilya. I miss being a wife. I miss being a mother. And having said that, an election is no longer in order. For I am stepping down and turning over my position to the one I see most fit for the position, Victoria Valera.
WIIIIIIIIN! The look on Victoria’s face is PRICELESS!
Vera pretends to congratulate Victoria…
Victoria: Anong ginagawa mo Vera? Akala mo hindi ko alam na may mga binabalak ka huh?
Vera: This is how you siya thank you, Victoria? Matagal mo na tong pinapangarap diba? Binibigay ko lang sayo.
Victoria: Dahil alam mong maaagaw ko.
Vera: Nooo Victoria! Hindi mo ito makukuha kung hindi ko ireregalo. Enjoy it while it lasts.
WINNER! Vera is a master manipulator. She bows down gracefully from FDGP and wins Manuel’s affection. Or at least tries to.
In the episode, Gelai (Bea Alonzo) helps Chloe (Erich Gonzales) finish her work and they bond with each other. Gelai invites Chloe to her birthday.
The next day, on Gelai’s birthday, Gelai is forced to work. And so is Caloy (Enchong Dee). But Caloy ends up resigning while making emo emo ignoring Gelai. Gelai is sad and Chloe ends up comforting her and convinces her to take the day off.
Gelai goes to the orphanage center with a surprise from her parents Ermes and Sonia (John Arcilla and Arlene Muhlach)
Gigi (Bianca Manalo) sees and taunts Caloy.
Gigi: Beauty queen ako, di tayo level!
Gigi: Siguro may LQ kayo?
Caloy: Anong LQ?
Gigi: Lots of Quarrels!
Louie (Derek Ramsay) is bored and goes to visit Gelai. Gigi catches him and thinks he is Gela’s boyfriend.
Gelai talks to a lady who tells her she might be able to find Gelai’s older sister.
Manuel (Mark Gil) is forced to face bankruptcy. He is pushed to accept Christian’s (RJ Ledesma) offer to buy more stocks of the Abella Group of Companies. Christian is, in fact, just Victoria’s dummy.
Bianca Manalo, I must say, is a great revelation. I loooove her in Magkaribal. Same goes for Nina Ricci Alagao, who I think is the mole who spies on Vera Couture for Victoria.
Next week: Victoria finally buys majority of the Abella Group of Companies, Louie shows interest in Gelai, and Gelai gets a lead on who her sister is.
