A Film by Micaela Rodriguez

An indie film by a Filipina filmmaker and blogger, Micaela Rodriguez is in competition for YourIndieFilm.com’s Online Film Festival. The film is entitled The 12th of June and stars Jade Lopez, Brian Ong, Shena Velasquez, AJ San Pedro, Jhelo Cruz, Jane Chua and Angelo Agojo.

THE 12th of June tells the story of a home-based virtual assistant named Eloisa, who devotes most of her time handling administrative tasks assigned to her by her boss in America. Due to her dedication at work and career-driven principles, she ends up forgetting her personal goals. One day, she decides to take a one week leave from work in order for her to appreciate the ‘outside world’. On the 12th day of June, Eloisa experiences a turning point in her life. The film deals more on the life of young virtual assistants and taking risks in love. It also aims to raise awareness that such job exists in the Philippines.

The movie also stars Eugene Domingo, John Lapus, Tuesday Vargas, and the Jaime Fabregas. I think the film is another showcase of Angelica Panganiban as she has to act out not only one character but also that of John Lapus.

The movie seems to have an interesting story. I just hope it lives up to its hype.

Lao is behind the success of films such as Bridal Shower, Tuhog, Bikini Open, and Saan Nagtatago ang Pag-ibig? And I will get the chance to be mentored by Bing Lao, as well.

This April, ufo Workshops is bringing Bing Lao’s Found Story Scriptwriting Workshop to Davao City as part of their Regional Summer Tours. The workshop will be from April 12 – 16, 2010.

Bilang paggalang sa imbitasyon ni Papa John Lloyd Cruz, I watched Star Cinema’s Miss You Like Crazy. Must say… I cried. Not just once. And I don’t usually cry when watching movies. Especially not when I’m with other people.

Needless to say, Llloydy was flawless in the movie. It was Bea Alonzo that was a really a revelation for me. I am no Bea fan, so I was pleasantly surprised with her subtle but heartfelt performance in the movie. And yes, she was really pretty too!

And the supporting cast… BRAVO! No misses on this one. I especially loved the casting of Bembol Roco, Sid Lucero, and Noel Trinidad. Maricar Reyes also performed well. A big hats off to director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Another person who deserves a round of applause is the writer. Whoever wrote this script deserves much praise. From the double meaning “Salamat sinauli mo to,” to the monologues and confrontation scenes, the lines were all NAKAKATAMA SA PUSO! And not just to those who can relate to the situation but for everybody who has loved.

Miss You Like Crazy, despite the happy ending which rarely happens in real life, is very much memorable. A gem.

Kudos to Star Cinema for a job VERY WELL DONE!

This is a must watch movie for any movie lover.

While I am a bit iffy about Bea Alonzo and their tandem, I am still very much excited to watch this…

It’s Star Cinema’s latest pampakilig movie, “I Miss You Like Crazy” by director Cathy Molina-Garcia.

Also in the cast is Maricar Reyes, as… Lloydy’s gf. Interesting plot. I have said it and I will say it again… pwedeng maka-relate??? I know I’m not the only one who can.

And I sure as hell not the only one excited to watch this movie. Star Cinema, please do not disappoint. See you at the cinema on February 24, 2010.

Yes, I am kinda tired of the Mano Po franchise and think they should just stop using it and title the films with titles that represent the films better… but I don’t care, I love Sharon Cuneta. LOL!

And Zsa Zsa Padilla as an antagonist? Interesting. Plus Kris Aquino in a subdued role. I am excited.

The film also stars Heart Evangelista, Ciara Sotto, Christopher de Leon, and Dennis Trillo.

I like the storyboard… and I hope the movie does not disappoint. I’m no big fan of Joel Lamangan but I respect him as a director. I hope this is better than the other Mano Po films.

This is an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival, which means it will be screened on cinemas nationwide starting December 25, 2009.

The Price of Fame is a Davaoeño indie film, Maqer Media’s entry to the 5th Mindanao Film Festival. It presents a view on the celebrity life and how one star’s myopic worldview is challenged.

Perhaps the most contemporary, and probably the only entry that is close to mainstream, The Price of Fame promises to be an interesting film to watch out for this MFF.

Unfortunately, the film has been rate R 18 by the MTRCB.
