You read that right. ASAP Rocks and Bench will join the Kadayawan Celebration here in Davao City at Abreeza Ayala Mall on August 19, 2011. Stars will descend upon the land of promise to join the festival of festivals as we celebrate the 26th Kadayawan Festival.

ASAP Rocks and Bench will bring the hottest young stars to Davao led by Billy Crawford, Shaina Magdayao, and Sam Concepcion. Other Kapamilya stars joining the festivities are hunk Rafael Rosell, Gab Valenciano, singing sensation Angeline Quinto, Megan Young, child phenom Bugoy Carino, and the hot dance crew of G-Force.

Join the Kapamilya stars as ASAP Rocks and Bench celebrates the Kadayawan Festival on August 19, 2011 at Abreeza Ayala Mall.

But the 32 second feature does not do justice to their performance at 11 pm. So I’m sharing here the full video of their auditions which got for them 3 yeses from the judges Kris Aquino, Ai-ai delas Alas, and Freddie Garcia:

The band is composed of young musicians from Davao who specialize in music from the 60s and 70s. They band members are Jason Nuere on vocals, Mark Abella on lead guitar, Carlo Dureza on bass, and Dan Paul Muñoz on drums. Their fifth member Joe Azurin Drilon, a keyboardist, was unable to join the competition due to medical reasons.

But who is she, exactly?

Moi Marcampo, dubbed as the “Yayang Palaban,” is Piolo Pascual‘s personal assistant/PA.

She debuted in Kimmy Dora starring Eugene Domingo. Piolo was one of the producers of Kimmy Dora.

She also appears in a Speed detergent ad with Piolo:

It will be interesting to watch her interact with more mainstream celebrities. I think her experience as a PA will serve her well.

The war between the Fortalejo and Da Silva clans run deep and is tainted by blood and betrayal.

Cristine and Denise play sisters Jewel and Emerald Fortalejo, respectively. The older Emerald is held captive by Marco (Rafael) who is a member of the rival Da Silva clan. Jewel ventures into the Da Silva territory in search of Emerald. She takes the guise of Jaime’s (Zanjoe) wife. Jaime is also tied to the Da Silva clan.

How will the fates of Jewel and Jaime, Jewel and Marco intertwine and how will they remain loyal to their families amidst the growing passions and ties they have with members of the opposing clan?

Other cast members are Lito Legaspi, Angel Jacob, and Eric Fructoso.

This drama will be directed by the Rory B. Quintos.

Minsan dumarating sa buhay natin na gusto na lang natin mag-isa. Na para bang gusto na lang natin matakasan ang mundo. Pero minsan kahit na anong tago natin, kahit na anong kubli natin, may mga taong hindi tayo kayang iwasan. Isang tao na hindi natin pwedeng takasan.

Mortal kaming magkaaway. Magkaiba. Tulad ng liwanag at dilim. Ilang beses ko siyang gusto iwasan pero pilit kaming pinaglalapit ng tadhana. Dahil siya ay kadikit ng aking buhay, kadugtong ng aking hininga, at salamin ng aking kaluluwa. Dahil ang katotohanan, siya at ako ay minsan naging isa.

At isa lang sa aming ang pwedeng humawak sa Aklat ng Salamangka, ang ILUMINA.

This leads to a flashback to a time before the twins were born. There is a war between light and dark sorcerers and twins Melina and Elvira are seen to flee their home, with their injured mother (Sunshine Cruz) while their father stayed to sacrifice themselves.

White sorceresses (Rochelle Pangilinan) manage to get Ilumina.

The twin’s mother is about to die and tells them not to forget the magic that they know. They are told that they should get back Ilumina someday. They are to follow a wolf into the forest and not to show themselves to others as other people will not be able to accept them.

Melina and Elvira live together in the forest, until they are shown to grown up (Jean Garcia) still living together away from others. Melina grows up believing in love, while Elvira seems to be more jaded and pessimistic.

Melina spies upon Romano (Cesar Montano) in the forest.

Aling Lupe, an elderly, tell kids of stories of a mangkukulam or “dark sorcerers” who live in the middle of the forest. Romano does not believe in these sorcerers.

A pregnant Elsa (Ara Mina) greets Romano home and warns him not to go into the forest because of the existence of the mangkukulam in the forest. Romano tells her there are no mangkukulams in the forest. Romano tells Elsa not to worry.

Elvira scolds Melina for wandering away. Melina tells Elvira about the handsome stranger she saw in the forest. Elvira reminds Melina that they are not to be seen.

Elsa and Romano go to the church to talk to the priest. Romano wants to be wed in the church to fulfill Elsa’s dream. Romano’s friend (Pekto) asks Romano to buy him a barong for Romano and Elsa’s wedding. Romano tells his friend that he will stop fishing and start hunting in the forest. His friend reminds him of the mangkukulam in the forest and that the mangkukulam might fall in love with him. Romano tells his friend that he has set up a trap and that a wild boar might have already fallen into the trap.

Melina falls into the trap and Romano helps her get out of it. They introduce themselves to each other. Romano quickly realizes that Melina is the mangkukulam that everybody is scared of. He tells Melina that she is beautiful and people should not be scared of her. Romano helps Melina with her injury and brings her home. Melina is already attatched to Romano and asks him to return.

Romano tells Elsa about Melina and that Melina is not a mangkukulam, but a regular person who just happens to live in the forest.

Elsa and Romano are excited to see their baby and become parents. Romano promises to love Elsa and their child. Romano was left by his parents when he was a kid so he longs for a family of his own.

Elvira scolds Melina for showing herself to Romano while Elvira is out looking for the Ilumina. Melina wants to be with Romano and does not want to be a sorceress. Melina holds on to the thought that Romano will come back for her.

Romano and Elsa are wed at the church. Melina goes to the town to look for Romano and chances upon the wedding. Melina disrupts the wedding.

Elsa is afraid that Melina the mangkukulam will return to hurt them. Romano tells Elsa that Melina is not a mangkukulam, just an hermit. Romano leaves Elsa to tend to the boat in preparation of the storm. While Romano is awar, Melina visits Elsa and casts a spell on her.

I think Elsa and Melina will change bodies. Interesting! Abangan!

Ilumina: Ang Aklat ng Salamangka will begin airing tonight on GMA Telebabad. It features young stars Aljur Abrenica, Rhian Ramos, and Jackie Rice in lead roles.

Ilumina is a drama fantasy series that also stars Jean Garcia, Ara Mina, and veteran actors Christopher de Leon and Cesar Montano.

Romano (Cesar) pays a farmer caught in the war between good and evil sorcerers. Elsa (Ara Mina), his wife, will help him through his life of hardship. They will have conjoined twins Romana (Rhian) and Krisanta (Jackie), the birth of whom will increase the couple’s hardships.

The twins are very close to each other even when they are already physically separated. However, Romana will discover her power of telekinesis, the power to move objects with the mind, which will cause a rift between the twins. Krisanta who does not possess any powers will grows resentful over this. Krisanta, meanwhile, manifests a mark on her cheek whenever she is angry or emotional.

The conflict between the twins grow as they meet Iñigo, a rich young man, with whom both Krisanta and Romana will fall in love with. This love will cause great damage to the relationship between the twins.

Unknown to the twins, they are being watched by Elvira (Jean), the second wife of Federico (Christopher). Federico is the father of Iñigo and the is the benefactor who spent for the operation to separate Krisanta and Romana.

Elvira longs to possess Ilumina, ang Aklat ng Salamangka (The Book of Magic) and she believes that the twins are the key to achieving her goal to reach achieve power. Jean also plays Elvira’s twin, Melina.

The story is nothing out of the ordinary but I like Rhian and Jackie, Jean and Cesar so I’ll give this show a chance. If it’s impressive after a week or so, will definitely stay tuned.

The show is directed by Mark Reyes and will begin airing tonight on GMA Telebabad, right after Ang Pilyang Kerubin.

Chloe (Erich Gonzales) approaches Vera (Angel Aquino) to ask where Manuel (Mark Gil) is.

Chloe: Mom, anong pong nangyayari? NAsan na si Dad?

Vera: What a stupid question! Did your mother drop you on the head when you were young? Can’t you see na nag-aaway kami. Hindi ko alam kung nasan siya. What a stupid question! You’re so insensitive!

Chloe: Mom, I’m really sorry for what I’ve done. Mom,hindi ko po sinasadya. Sorry po talaga?

Vera: Why? What have you done Chloe?

And in the House of Ronaldo, Manuel tries to talk to Victoria (Gretchen Barretto).

Manuel: Pwede ba tayo mag-usap?

Victoria: I’m sorry do you have an appointment meeting with me today?

Manuel: Importante lang.

Victoria: Ano pa bang pwede natin pag-usapan?

Manuel: Marami. Nagpunta ako rito para ayusin ang relasyon natin, anak. Kung hahayan mo ako.

Victoria: What is this about? Is this about your wife? Para tigilan ko na siya? You’re mistaken!

Manuel: Hindi, Ana. Tungkol to sa isang ama na lumalapit sa kanyang anak na humihingi ng kapatawaran.

Victoria: Yeah, right. Ginagawa mo ito para sa asawa mo. Everything is always about your wife.

Manuel: Anna. Anna, please.

Victoria: ‘Wag mo akong tatawaging Anna. Matagal na siyang nilibing kasama ng nanay at kapatid ko.

Manuel: I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Anna. I’m sorry.

Victoria: Sorry? Really sorry? Mapapatawad lang kita kung maibabalik ang buhay ng nanay at kapatid ko. At hihiwalayan mo si vera. But thats impossible, right? Marami pang trabahong naghihintay sa akin.

Chloe is not Vera’s biological daughter. She was adopted after her own child with Manuel was aborted. Prior to this episode, Chloe had secretly invited Victoria to Vera’s “Ultimate Fight” event. This gave Victoria the chance to talk to Alex Jacobs that investing in the Abella Group of Companies is not a worthy investment.

After Victoria does this, she is confronted by Vera and Manuel takes Victoria’s side. Manuel doesn’t go home and refuses to speak to Vera.

He tries to reconcile with Victoria who is his biological daughter. Victoria refuses and insists Manuel should bring back to life his dead wife Stella (Mickey Ferriols) and his other daughter Angela (Bea Alonzo), and that he should separate from Vera.

Victoria doesn’t believe Manuel’s sincerity and thinks that all of Manuel’s actions are motivated by his love for Vera.

Vera finds a picture of Stella, Manuel, and baby Anna in Manuel’s office. This only fuels her anger and insecurity.

Chloe, in an attempt to make up with Vera, sets up a meeting between Manuel and Vera. Vera says that Manuel was the only man who truly loved her and didn’t just use her. Vera will die without Manuel. Vera promises Manuel that she will change. Manuel asks Vera to make amends with Victoria.

The episode ends with Vera and Victoria about to go to the FDGP meeting where a new president will be elected.
